Summer Camp

This 2018 summer season will be our 4th year facilitating art camps at Lakewood Community Club, and we hope you’ll join us this summer! Each mini-camp is 3 days long and goes from 9-1pm.


July 29-31 / 9-1pm / M-W/ Magical Art

Faeries, Toads, Potions & Make-Believe

Description: Bring out the nature-loving, sensory focused, magical thinking artist in your child with this camp. This magical experience will involve a mixture of science, art, nature, and imagination. The Lakewood Community Club will be our home-base, and each day will involve art projects, art games, lunchtime & outdoor play, and lots of fun!

August 6-8 / 9-1pm / M-W / Fake Food, Real Art

Creating food using everyday materials

Lakewood/Seward Community Club

Ages 5-9

Description: This camp will explore the wonderful world of food through an artistic lens, and we will craft food-themed art pieces using recycled materials. We will be learning about different art techniques like printmaking and sculpture, and we’ll be concocting an artful feast through the camp! Lakewood Community Club will be our home-base, and each day will involve making unique art projects, playing art games, lunchtime & outdoor play and having lots of fun!

Description: This camp will involve active, experiential, process art where we move our whole bodies to create. This kinetic art camp will involve collaborative art projects and art games for your active art-hungry child. Lakewood Community Club will be our home-base, and each day will involve indoor and outdoor art projects, games, lots of movement, lunchtime & outdoor play and having lots of fun!

Camp Teacher Info:

Amber Kai Morgan runs the daily operation of The Makery and teaches two weekly toddler art classes at Lakewood Community Club throughout the year. She also teaches three weekly art classes at a preschool in Columbia City, facilitates Makery birthday parties, creates art workshops at schools and organizations, and has provided unique art experiences at Southend events including Othello Festival, Cheasty Greenspace Lantern Walk & Full Tilt Make & Take art days. CPR & First Aid certified.

Sarah Cortes attended The Makery’s Toddler Art classes when her twins were toddlers and assisted with day-of toddler art class logistics for a year, and is currently a Support Teacher at Lakewood Cooperative Preschool in the neighborhood. CPR and First Aid certified.
